A Partnership for Child Care Excellence
We are incredibly proud to be featured in a recent Lincoln Journal Star article highlighting a vital partnership that is making a real difference in our community. In collaboration with Lincoln Littles, local child care centers, and the American Job Center, we have developed a program that is not only addressing the critical need for qualified child care providers in Lincoln but also opening doors of opportunity for new Americans. This innovative program provides training and support for immigrants and refugees, empowering them to embark on meaningful careers as child care providers, teachers, and paraprofessionals.
The impact of this partnership is best told through the stories of our students. The Journal Star article features Zainab Khudhair, a recent graduate of our program who immigrated to Nebraska from Iraq. After honing her English skills with us, she enrolled in the child care provider training. Now, she is working at a local child care center and shared, “It makes me happy every day, makes me smile every morning.” Zainab’s journey is a powerful testament to the resilience and determination of our students and the transformative power of education and community support.
Zainab’s story is just one of many. By equipping newcomers with the skills and qualifications they need to succeed, we are not only helping them build brighter futures for themselves and their families but also enriching our community and strengthening the child care workforce in Lincoln.
