We’re so fortunate to have the support of many community partners, from companies, governments, and nonprofits to libraries, hospitals, churches, and schools.
What Our Partners Do
Here’s how Lincoln Literacy’s partners help us cultivate community.
- Host Classes – Many of our partners provide a space for us to teach classes near where our students live and work.
- Provide Workplace Classes – Local companies benefit from upskilling their workforce of English language learners.
- Fund Operations – We recognize corporate, foundation, grant, and individual donations of any amount.
- Sponsor Events – Our annual fundraising events provide the perfect opportunity for sponsors to extend their community reach.
- Refer Students – Nonprofit partners often collaborate with us on student and resource referrals.
- Collaborate on Outreach – Our staff regularly attend community outreach events to provide information to prospective students and volunteers.
- Share News – Partners can stay up-to-date with our monthly newsletter and submit their organization’s news or events to info@LincolnLiteracy.org for a possible feature in our newsletter.
- Volunteer – Corporate volunteer programs can refer employees to us as volunteers. We value in-kind donations and tutors willing to commit long-term.

We collaborate with the American Job Center to provide subsidized work-based learning to English language learners.
We work with the Asian Community and Cultural Center’s CareerLadder program to connect skilled immigrants and refugees to career pathways and a professional network.
We provide tailored, work-based English classes to employees at Bison.
We provide tailored, work-based English classes to employees at Bryan Health.
We supplement the refugee resettlement efforts and exchange referrals with Catholic Social Services.
Center for Legal Immigration Assistance (CLIA) is a referral partner that provides guidance to Lincoln Literacy staff when there are questions on immigration law that we cannot answer.
Chuck Haacker, a professional photographer for 50 years, has provided his services pro bono to nonprofits since retiring — a philanthropist in kind.
The City of Lincoln Libraries provides a free, centrally located space for our free English classes to meet.
We contract with the American Job Center on Incumbent Worker Training grants to teach English on-site at different Lincoln employers.
We also receive KENO and JARC funds to help offset costs and participate in monthly New Americans Task Force meetings.
Community Action Partnership provides a free, centrally located space for our free English classes to meet. We also exchange referrals.
We supplement the language education efforts of and exchange referrals with El Centro de las Americas
First Plymouth Church provides a free, centrally located space for our free English classes to meet.
We provide tailored, work-based English classes to employees at Garner Industries
Good Neighbor Community Center provides a free, centrally located space for our free English classes to meet.
We partner with Goodwill to connect people with job help and resume creation, work, and interview clothes.
We use Google for teaching staff AI and Google Suite products.
Grace Lutheran Church provides a free, centrally located space for our free English classes to meet.
We provide tailored, work-based English classes to employees at Heartland Gourmet.
We provide tailored, work-based English classes to employees at Hexagon Agility.
We provide tailored, work-based English classes to employees at Instinct Pet Foods.
We partner with ICRI to help Ukrainian students attend English classes, get jobs, and access resources in our community.
Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing has been a workplace learning site since 2022. With 18 cohorts completed, nearly 200 employees completed English classes.
Lincoln Arts Council provides grant funding and collaborates with us on programming, like our Ukrainian Art Camp.
We provide tailored, work-based English classes to employees at Lincoln Industries.
The Lincoln Manufacturing Council (LMC) offers a course on manufacturing basics to create a pipeline of workers, which our staff help facilitate for our immigrant and refugee populations.
We collaborate with the Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development, which helps coordinate a manufacturing basics class with LMC.
We provide tailored, work-based English classes to employees at Lincoln Public Schools.
We supplement the refugee resettlement efforts and exchange referrals with Lutheran Family Services.
We provide tailored, work-based English classes to employees at Marriott Cornhusker Hotel.
We provide tailored, work-based English classes to employees at NEBCO.
For 25 years, Lincoln Literacy has served as the prime contractor for English language services to refugees in Lincoln and Lancaster County.
Nebraska Health Care Association is a referral partner for CNA classes and certification.
We received funding from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development as part of the Good Life Is Calling campaign.
This will help us strengthen our community by teaching English and literacy skills to people of all backgrounds.
Saint Paul United Methodist Church provides a free, centrally located space for our free English classes to meet.
We provide tailored, work-based English classes to employees at Sam’s Club.
We provide tailored, work-based English classes to employees at Smart Chicken.
We partner with Southeast Community College (SCC) on multiple grants and community efforts, serve on several SCC advisory councils, and refer students to each other when students may not have the necessary English skills yet to succeed.
We provide tailored, work-based English classes to employees at TMCO.
We refer students to University of Nebraska – Lincoln (UNL) credit and non-credit classes.
We also partner with UNL Medical Center to refer foreign-trained healthcare professionals to become recertified.
