Located in the heart of Downtown Lincoln, Lincoln Literacy is all about helping newcomers from all over the world build brighter futures. Since 1972, we’ve been offering English language education and a variety of programs to help people gain the skills they need for success. What started as a volunteer effort to help people earn their GEDs has now grown into a vital community resource.
Under the leadership of Bryan Seck, Lincoln Literacy has seen incredible growth, serving over 2,300 students in 2024. We offer everything from GED prep and job training to computer literacy and even high-tech driving simulators, which help prepare people to earn their Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDL). We also provide free van transportation so everyone can access education, no matter where they live in Lincoln.
One of the key reasons for our success is our collaborations with local organizations like Catholic Social Services, Good Neighbor Center, Lincoln High, Goodwill, Bryan Health, and many more, ensuring students have all the resources they need.
For 52 years, Lincoln Literacy has been a downtown staple, and we’re here to stay. Our mission is simple: to strengthen our community by teaching the English language and a variety of literacy skills to people of all cultures. English is parallel to freedom.
