Holidays & Breaks
We observe most federal holidays. On those days, our office is closed and no classes are offered. We usually follow the Lincoln Public School calendar for Christmas, spring, and summer breaks. For a detailed list of all holidays, please review our Events page.
Getting to Lincoln Literacy
Our back doors remain unlocked during business hours, so this is the easiest way to get into our office.
Driving
Our Lincoln Literacy office is located in downtown Lincoln just a few blocks from the Nebraska State Capitol and the City-County building.

Parking
Parking is in the back of the building. Limited spots, including a handicap spot, are available, accessed through the alley on the left. Look for the parking spots marked with “LL.” You may also park on the street in the surrounding neighborhood.

Biking
Use the bike lanes on 11th Street and Lincoln Mall to get to our office by bike. Bike racks are located near the front entrance.

Bus Routes
Lincoln Literacy is accessible by StarTran bus routes 13, 51, and 56. Bus shelters are available in front of the City-County building and on 11th Street.

Transportation to Classes
We offer a free van service for students who need transportation to and from class. New refugees are given priority.

Accessibility
Front Entrance
The front entrance is flat with no stairs and includes an elevator for access to our second floor. A well-maintained sidewalk passes in front and along the left side of the building with curb cuts available at all endpoints. For wheelchair users, a handicap door opener is not available, but our staff will be glad to offer any assistance necessary.

Back Entrance
Our back entrance is also flat with no stairs. Follow the sidewalk on the building’s left side until you reach the on-ramp leading into the parking lot. From there, it’s a straight line to the door with the blue awning. A handicap door opener is not available, but our staff are ready to assist as needed.
Language Accessibility
Our staff can accommodate the many cultures we work with on a daily basis. We have full and part-time staff who speak multiple languages.
